Designed for speed, confidence, and first-time adventure, the Sprint Triathlon offers a shorter challenge on the same scenic terrain as the Full Distance course. Athletes will swim in Lake Taihu, ride the flowing mountain bike trails, and run back through the forest to the XTERRA base. Open to all, and a qualifier for the XTERRA Youth World Championship for athletes aged 16 to 19, this is where new journeys begin and fast ones unfold.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

  1. All registrations are non-refundable after the specified cancellation dates. Registration is non-transferrable.

  2. Athletes may be eligible for a partial refund of their entry fee (details below)

    • Any requests received before 17:00, Aug. 28, 2026 will be eligible for an 80% refund of the price paid.

    • Any requests received before 17:00, Sep. 28, 2026 will be eligible for a 50% refund of the price paid. Any requests received after that will not be eligible for a refund under any circumstance.

    • Athletes who wish to withdraw shall submit the refund by his/herself in the XTERRA WeChat Mini-Program or ACTIVE. Meanwhile, the athletes will lose their race qualification upon receiving the refund.

  3. For athletes who are unable to participate for whatever the reason after the refund deadline, if they wish to receive the race kit, they should send an email to [email protected] within 7 days after the race before Nov. 8, 2026. The race kit will be sent via cash-on-delivery (COD) & that will only be available within mainland China.

  4. After the refund period has passed, before the race start, in case of the following special circumstances, athletes can send an email to [email protected], stating the situation and providing corresponding supporting documents to apply for an event deferral. The event organizing committee will reply to the athletes within 5 working days to confirm whether their deferral request is approved. Any request after the race will not be accepted.

    • Circumstance 1: If an athlete is unable to participate due to hospitalization, he/she should explain the situation in the email and attach a scanned copy of their hospital discharge summary or admission notice.

    • Circumstance 2: If an athlete is unable to participate due to pregnancy, they should explain the situation in the email and attach their hospital medical records, as well as urine and blood test reports for verification.

    • The relevant regulations regarding deferral are as follows:

      • Deferral is only applicable to the same category of the same event in the following year. If the entry fee increases, the athlete needs to pay the price difference.

      • The deferral is allowed only once, and no refund requests will be accepted after the deferral.

      • This does not applicable for athletes who register with a free entry.


Rules & Info

RULES

A. GENERAL

  1. If for any reason an athlete can not finish the race, he/she must report to the finish line area. This will result in a DNF (did not finish) result.

  2. Please ensure that the transition bags are allocated in the designated areas.

  3. When the transition area is closed, no entry is allowed.

  4. During the event, athletes wearing the event race bib and event staff are allowed to enter the transition area. However, athletes' family members, personal technicians, or private photographers are not permitted to enter the area at any time.

  5. On the event day, the transition area will be open at the specified time for athletes to collect their bikes and transition bags. Only athletes themselves are allowed to collect their own bikes and transition bags; athletes' family members, team members, coaches, and drivers are not allowed to enter the transition area for bike and transition bag collection. All athletes wishing to enter the restricted area must present their race bib to the staff to verify ownership of the bike.

  6. Transition Area Rules for Relay Teams:Relay team members in the transition area must wait in the designated zone for their incoming teammate. Please follow the instructions of race officials to enter the relay zone. All athletes who have completed their leg must leave the transition area and may only re-enter when instructed by race officials.

  7. For environmental protection, we advocate:

    • Littering on the course is prohibited. Any item that needs to be discarded, including water bottles, gel wrappers, energy bar wrappers, or clothing items, can only be discarded at aid / hydration stations.

    • Bottle water is not allowed to be brought to the course, nor taken outside of the SP stations.

    • Alpenstocks and other auxiliary tools are prohibited during the race.

    • No smoking in SP stations or on the course.

  8. MP3 players or any kind of personal music / listening devices with headset are banned to be used at any time during the race for safety concern.

  9. Race bibs and race registration CANNOT be transferred. Athletes found racing under a different name will be disqualified.

  10. A relay team may consist of 2 to 3 members. A participant may only register for one relay team and shall not register repeatedly. A participant may choose to compete in either individual race or one to two disciplines of the relay race.

  11. Consider the safety of yourself and other athletes at all times during the race. Treat other athletes, race officials, race marshals, medical staff, traffic enforcers, and spectators with respect and courtesy before, during and after the race.

  12. Participants shall refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including the improper use of language or conduct directed toward another participant, race official, race marshal, medical staff or traffic enforcer, and spectators.

  13. Any protest relating to race results must be submitted in writing together with evidence to the Race Director within one hour of the final race cutoff. During the event, athletes are not allowed to question the marshals on the spot. Failure to comply may result in time penalties or disqualification, as determined by the event organizing committee.

  14. In case of severe weather on race day, XTERRA reserves the right to make the necessary adjustments to the race course to ensure the safety of all participants. If XTERRA cancelled the race, full payment of the registration fee would be returned to athletes.

  15. The event organizer XTERRA SPORTS(SUZHOU) CO., LTD reserves the right to modify the rules at any time. Any adjustments will be announced in Athletes Guide and will be declared during the race briefing held on the day before the race day.

B. SWIM

  1. Athletes must wear the swim cap provided by the event organizer in the race kit, and wear the swim goggles, and timing chip before starting the race.

  2. Swimmers are allowed to use any swimming style. The use of any propulsive devices that can give advantages (such as snorkels, fins, gloves, socks, hand paddles, or any floating devices, including kickboards) or equipment that may harm other athletes is prohibited. Buoyancy aids are exempt from this restriction, but the connecting rope must be longer than 40cm.

  3. When the water temperature is 22 degrees Celsius or below, a wetsuit is allowed. When the water temperature exceeds 22 degrees Celsius, a wetsuit or wetpants are not allowed. When the water temperature is 15.9 degrees Celsius or below, all athletes must wear a wetsuit. The event organizer will announce the water temperature before the race.

  4. The thickness of any part of the thermal wetsuit must not exceed 5mm. If the wetsuit consists of two parts, the thickness at the joint must also not exceed the 5mm limit.

  5. The outermost part of the wetsuit must fit tightly to the athlete's body during the swimming process. The wetsuit may cover any part of the athlete's body except the hands, face, and feet.

  6. Nudity (including bare torso) is strictly prohibited during the race. In events where a wetsuit is not permitted, athletes must wear a World Triathlon approved race suit. If an athlete wears multiple race suits, all such suits must comply with the regulations.

  7. Violators of the rules will have their results and rankings disqualified.

C. CYCLING

  1. Only mountain bikes are permitted in the cycling leg. Wheel diameter is limited to 26, 27.5 or 29 inches.The bike must be equipped with a suspension fork and knobby tires with a minimum width of 1.75 inches. Slick tires, bar ends, racks, kickstands and similar accessories are strictly prohibited. Each athlete shall provide their own bike, equipment and protective gear. No motorized or powered devices are allowed. Athletes must ensure that brakes and all components are in safe working order. Any injury or damage caused by equipment quality, poor condition or improper use shall be the sole responsibility of the athlete. All bikes must pass inspection by the organizing committee’s marshals prior to being allowed to start.

  2. It is strictly prohibited to be nude (including bare-chested) during the race. Athletes must wear mandatory safety gear, a cycling helmet, from the moment they touch their bikes. Only after completing the cycling leg and safely placing the bike in the transition area can they remove the cycling helmet. No bike repair services will be provided during the race, and athletes must bring their own repair tools. While repairing the bike, athletes must not obstruct the race course.

  3. Violators of the rules will have their results and rankings disqualified.

D. TRAIL RUN

  1. Athletes may run or walk to complete the course. Outside assistance is not allowed.

  2. Race number must be clearly visible on the front of the runner all the time.

  3. It is strictly prohibited to run naked (including bare-chested) or run barefoot during the race.

  4. The use of alpenstocks or any other assistance tools is strictly prohibited during the competition.

  5. Athletes are strictly prohibited from being accompanied by teammates, team leaders, or any other individuals while running.

E. INSPECTION OF RACING ATTIRE AND EQUIPMENT

The inspection of athletes' racing attire and equipment will be conducted during the check-in and entry into the transition area on the race day. There will be no separate inspections before the race. If athletes are unsure whether their racing attire and equipment comply with the competition rules, they may submit their competition attire and equipment to the marshals for inspection after the race technical briefing.

PENALTY RULES

  1. The following violations will result in the cancellation of race results:

    • Accepting drinks or food from others contrary to the event regulations.

    • Disobeying the instructions of the marshels.

    • Failure to wear a swim cap provided by XTERRA.

    • Not wearing a safety helmet or affixing the helmet and bike number stickers.

    • Using any wheeled devices other than the mountain bike, such as inline skates, skateboards, or scooters, on the race course.

    • This event uses chip timing. Please wear the chip at the designated position in accordance with the regulations. Athletes who fail to have their results recorded at the start point, finish point and checkpoints will be disqualified, with no timing recorded and no score certificate issued.

    • Before crossing the finish line, athletes must have their race bibs checked by the marshals. Marshals have the authority to disqualify athletes for violations, disrespect towards referees, or engage in acts of proxy running, and participants may not dispute these decisions.

  2. The following violations will result in the cancellation of race results, a three-year ban from participating in XTERRA race event, and the publication of the offender's name on the official event website:

    • Athletes who receive assistance from others during the race (e.g., hitching rides, being supported, etc.).

    • Athletes whose registered category does not match their ID.

    • Violations of sportsmanship and ethics (e.g., fighting, insulting marshels and event staff, etc.).
