Rain or Shine!

XTERRA Weston Park will be held rain or shine and will only be postponed in extreme circumstances. If there are any amendments to the format and distance of the event or the postponement or cancellation of the event, race organisers will communicate in the days prior to the event via email and on the website to race participants. Transition Area

Please be mindful of others when placing your equipment in the transition areas.  For the security of your equipment, ONLY athletes are allowed inside the transition, so make sure you have your race bib with you when entering the transition area. Supporters need to wait outside. Please leave valuables at home or with your supporters. Do not leave them in transition.

The following requirements apply to all transition areas and constitute part of the event rules:

  • Racking - Transition will be numbered. Rack your bike by the saddle, with your handlebars pointing towards you as you look at your spot.

  • Rule book - Check the British Triathlon rules regarding transition and equipment set-up. For 2026, there is a new rule around the size of your towel!

  • Relay Teams: Only the teammate in the immediate next leg is permitted to wait inside the TA – other teammates and support crews must wait outside the fenced-off enclosure. Do not crowd around the entry to the TA, but leave space for other competitors. Exchange the timing chip next to your equipment. These points will be strictly enforced.

  • Bike Collection: You can access the transition to collect your bike post-race by using your run bib number. We're aiming to be flexible when you can do this, but follow the marshals' instructions as transition can be 'live' at any time.

Water Temperature and Wetsuits

Whilst there will likely be a wetsuit swim, the final water temperature reading and determination of wetsuit use will take place in the morning before each race. XTERRA Weston Park follows British Triathlon guidelines for wetsuit use. You can check the complete details in this handbook.

Start Procedure

Warm Up: There is no access on race morning for a swim warm-up. Please warm up on the dry land before you start.

Startline Briefing: There will be a startline briefing 15 minutes before the start of each race. When called, please make your way through the swim start zone.

Startline: When asked, cross over the timing mat as you enter the water and swim the short distance across to the startline on the opposite side of the lake.

Go! The water safety team will hold you in position before the starting horn.
