Now in its third year, the XTERRA Youth World Championship continues to nurture the next generation of off-road triathletes, and in 2026, it arrives in the Americas for the very first time. The Sprint Triathlon sees the world’s best qualifying Youth B and Junior athletes take on the open waters of Grindstone Lake and the high-altitude trails of Ruidoso, New Mexico, to determine the next World Champions of Youth B and Junior divisions.

On top of getting the opportunity to race alongside top Youth B/Junior athletes from around the globe, the entry fee includes:

What is the Sprint Distance Triathlon Deferral/Refund Policy?

All registration fees for the XTERRA Youth World Championship are non-refundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to withdrawal, disqualification, or cancellation of the event.

Deferrals for medical reasons will be considered, but not guaranteed. Email a written request to [email protected] with your name, event name, and reason for the request, accompanied by a doctor’s note detailing injury/illness.

Please note that athletes who have already deferred from a previous year are not eligible for another deferral; these cannot be extended again.

HOW TO QUALIFY

This race is part of the new XTERRA Youth World Championship program and is a qualification-only race open to the Youth B (16-17 yrs. old) and Junior Division (18-19 yrs. old). You can read more about the XTERRA Youth World Championship Qualification on this page.

TRIATHLON SUITS / UNIFORM

For all age group athletes, there are no strict rules regarding uniforms. However, elite athletes will follow the World Triathlon Guidelines regarding uniform. 


AID STATIONS

Competitors are encouraged to be responsible for their own hydration during the race (ie. bring your own bike bottles and hydration packs).

Water, energy bars, gels & isotonic drinks will be available on the course.
